Boy (15) among three arrested for stealing items from Courts NA store

A 15-year-old boy, an 18-year-old man, and a 42-year-old woman are in Police custody after they allegedly broke into the New Amsterdam, Berbice Courts store and stole several electronics and a motorcycle. 

The trio is accused of stealing an AKT motorcycle valued at $353,000 and several electronics of an undisclosed sum. According to reports, on November 19, 2021, at around 21:00 hours, employees secured the premises leaving the mentioned articles intact.

On November 20, last, at about 05:55 hours the assistant manager of the store related that she received information that the door to the store was open. She immediately went to the location where she observed the northwestern door was broken down. She later made further checks and observed that the mentioned articles were missing. 

Acting on information, at around 10:00 hours, a party of Policemen went to the home of a 15-year-old boy. He was contacted by Police ranks and told of the information received. He told the Police that he and his 18-year-old cousin stole items from the Courts store. 

The following articles were recovered in a clump of bushes at Strand and Charles Places, New Amsterdam, Berbice: one white AKT motorcycle, one dark grey HP laptop, one blue Acer laptop; three headphones, one Extreme skater game, and two computer chargers. 

Acting on further information, ranks went to another location where the 42-year-old mother was contacted and a search was conducted in a wooden security hut. The following items were discovered: a black Samsung electronic tablet, a TCL black cellular phone, a BLU G61 cellular phone, and a black Radio Shack music box. 

All the items recovered were taken to Central Police Station along with the suspects. The items recovered were positively identified by the manager of the store as property belonging to Courts.  The suspects remain in custody pending further investigations.
