President Dr Irfaan Ali has described former PPP/C government minister and GECOM Commissioner, Bibi Safora Shadick as a great soul, who was resolute in her commitment to the development of Guyana.
The Head of State joined members of his Cabinet and family and friends at her funeral service and viewing on Sunday at her East Street, Georgetown home.
According to President Ali, as a country and a people, “we have lost an invaluable asset, who was family, community and nationally oriented”.
The Head of State and several Ministers thereafter travelled to Leguan for the Janazah and burial of the late Shadick.
They Break News understands that Shadick passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon at her residence after a brief period of illness. She was also an Attorney-at-Law by profession.
She also served as Pro-Chancellor of the University of Guyana (UG).
