Bartica miner charged with trafficking ganja

A miner who is accused of trafficking 68 grammes of marijuana was charged on Thursday and released on $100,000 bail.

Damion Jones of Lot 82 8th Street Bartica, Essequibo River, appeared before Magistrate Crystal Lambert at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court. 

Jones was charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking contrary to Section 5 (1) (a) (i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act, Cpt. 10:10.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was released on $100,000 bail. 

He was also instructed to make his next court appearance on October 26, 2021.
