An aircraft suffered a punctured tyre while landing at the Port Kaituma airstrip on Thursday at 08:20hrs.
According to a Police report, an Air Service Limited registered aircraft number 8R- BKP arrived at the Port Kaituma airstrip with 12 passengers and cargo.
Whilst the aircraft was landing on the airstrip, its right-side tyre was punctured, resulting in a complete stop of the plane.
However, ranks from the Guyana Police Force (GPF) along with the Captain examined the aircraft and noticed that the right-side tyre of the aircraft was punctured.
Public-spirited citizens, with instructions from the plane’s Captain, pushed the aircraft to the left corner of the runway. No one was injured. The aircraft received no further damage.
Investigations are ongoing.
