51-year-old pedestrian killed in Mahaicony accident


A fifty-one-year-old pedestrian is now dead after he was struck down by a motorcar. The accident occurred on Saturday, November 20, and resulted in the death of Deosaran Moonilall of Fairfield, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara (ECD).  

A Police report said that the accident occurred at about 17:59 hours at Fairfield Public Road, Mahaicony, ECD. The accident involved motorcar PTT 9481 for which the name and address of the driver are currently unknown. 

The Police report stated that the pedestrian was crossing the said road from north to south whilst the car was proceeding west along the southern side of the said road. The car collided with the pedestrian. 

As a result of the collision, the pedestrian fell onto the roadway and received injuries to his head and about his body. Moonilall was picked up in an unconscious condition by the car’s driver and taken to Mahaicony Cottage Hospital. The injured man was subsequently referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he died on Sunday. 


His body is presently at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination. Investigations are ongoing.
