2 more fatalities take COVID-19 death toll to 486; 112 new cases


Two more persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have died, taking the total number of deaths from the virus locally to 486. 

The latest fatalities are two females, a 47-year-old from Region 4 (Demerara-Mahaica) and a 68-year-old from Region 6 (East Berbice- Corentyne). They both died while receiving care at our medical facility. 

Meanwhile, 112 new persons have tested positive for the deadly virus, taking the total confirmed cases to 20,757. 

These new cases were also distributed across Region One, Region Two, Region Three, Region Four, Region Five, Region Six, Region Seven, and Region 10.

So far, a total of 18,795 have since recovered from the life-threatening disease, with 13 persons in the dedicated COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 90 in institutional isolation, 1,373 in-home isolation. To date, Guyana has tested 195,502 individuals.
