Fifteen small businesses in Region 2 benefited from $500,000 each in small business grants facilitated by the Small Business Bureau of the Ministry of Tourism, Industry, and Commerce.

The cheques were handed out today by Minister of Tourism, Industry, and Commerce, Oneidge Walrond.

In a live on the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce’s page, SBB Chief Executive Officer (ag) Vanessa Thompson stated that their team has been in the region since Monday conducting “small business one-stop-shop.”

The CEO further added that by making these grants accessible to the remote areas, not only are the business owners benefiting, but also jobs are being created in the communities.

The Ministry has collaborated with three agencies: the Deeds and Commercial Registry Authority (DCRA), National Insurance Scheme (NIS), and Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) so that persons in remote areas can have access to the grants instead of having to travel all the way to Georgetown.
