Two more men succumb to COVID-19; 77 new cases


The Ministry of Health (MOH) reported today that two more men have succumbed to COVID-19, thus bringing the death toll to 484.

The latest fatalities are a 59-year-old man from Region Three (Essequibo-Islands West Demerara) and a 65-year-old man from Region Four (Mahaica-Berbice).

The two men succumbed to the virus while receiving treatment at a medical facility. A total of eight deaths have been recorded for the month of July.

Meanwhile, 77 new persons have tested positive for the novel coronavirus after 920 tests were conducted. This brings the total confirmed cases to 20,645. A total of 18,647 have since recovered from the deadly virus.

The MOH further highlighted that 15 persons are in the dedicated COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 89 in institutional isolation, 1,410 in-home isolation, and three in institutional quarantine. To date, Guyana has tested 195,695 individuals.
