Four more succumb to COVID-19; 179 new cases


Today, the Ministry of Health (MOH) reported that four more persons have succumbed to COVID-19, thus bringing the death toll to 482. 

The latest fatalities are a 71-year-old man, a 75-year-old woman, an 81-year-old man, and an 82-year-old man. There have been six deaths for the month of July. 

Meanwhile, another 179 new persons tested positive for the novel coronavirus, thus bringing the confirmed cases to 20,568. Some 18,466 have since recovered from the deadly virus. 

The new cases were recorded in Region One, Region Three, Region Four, Region Six, Region Nine, and Region 10.

Statistics provided by the Ministry showed that 14 persons remain in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 96 in institutional isolation, 1,510 in-home isolation, and three persons in institutional quarantine. To date, Guyana has tested 194,775 individuals.
