Police in Regional Division #1 are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Felix Henry.
The 43-year-old man of Amerindian descent,who is also known as ‘Oldie’, was a chainsaw operator of Port Kaituma, North West District (NWD).
His wife is a 50-year-old farmer of Amerindian descent.
The killing occurred at 10 Miles, Port Kaituma between May 19 and 20.
When Police ranks visited the crime scene, they observed a single flat make-shift one bedroom wooden structure that was surrounded by vegetation.
Henry’s body was found lying face up, clad in a blue jersey and blue three quarter pants, in the kitchen area in a sitting position.
The ranks upon examining his body found a wound measuring about two inches in length at the middle of his neck.
A preliminary investigation into this matter revealed that Henry and the suspect were involved in a 20-year abusive relationship.
Between 17:00h on May 19 and 07:40h the following day, Henry and his wife were at home alone imbibing when they had a misunderstanding.
The woman claimed Henry armed himself with a cutlass and chased her around the yard. She then went back into the house, armed herself with a knife and stabbed him once to his neck in the kitchen area of the house.
The man then collapsed and his wife went into the bedroom and slept. When she woke up on the morning of May 20, she found him lying motionless with a stab wound to his neck.
At around 06:30h on May 20, the woman’s 28-year-old son went to the house where he saw the victim lying motionless. He immediately visited the Port Kaituma Police Station and reported the matter.
On the said date, the victim’s body was escorted to the Port Kaituma Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The body was then placed into the Port Kaituma Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.
On the said date,too, Henry’s wife was contacted by Police, told of the allegation, cautioned and arrested. A brown handle knife with suspected blood stains was recovered at the scene.
Police said that the woman admitted that she used the knife to inflict the wound on her husband. She was then placed into custody and is assisting with the investigation.
